What the research supports
No stool-quality trial of pumpkin in dogs or cats was returned by the PubMed searches run for the research file (the pumpkin results were a protein digestibility study, PMID 41301986, ethnobotany and parasite work). The fiber evidence in dogs is for psyllium: 22 police dogs with chronic large-bowel diarrhea on psyllium husk for a month had consistent stools in 90% (PMID 33653329), and 37 dogs on Metamucil with a highly digestible diet mostly responded very well (PMID 10668813).
