What the research supports
No trial of this Slab51 formulation in cats with constipation was found in the PubMed searches run for the research file. The feline constipation evidence is for psyllium-enriched diets: 49 constipated cats on a 6% psyllium diet had a 26.9% diet failure rate against 73.3% on 0.5% (p=0.0005) (PMID 41631677), and 66 constipated cats on a psyllium diet improved in 93% and 82% of cases (PMID 21944542).
What the label discloses
The label states 100 billion CFU per packet from eight live strains; the strain names are not listed on the pages read. Refrigerated. The Amazon listing states it is for cats only.
Dose by weight, from the label
| ANIMAL AND WEIGHT | LABEL SERVING | COST A DAY |
|---|---|---|
| Cat, under 10 lb | 1 packet a day | $2.57 |
| Cat, 10 lb and over | 1 packet a day | $2.57 |
Cost is the pack price at the retailer named below divided by the servings in the pack, at the label serving for that weight. Your vet’s instructions come first.
Worth knowing
The listing says to administer as directed by a veterinarian and to separate it from antibiotics by at least 2 hours. Cats that strain without passing stool need a vet, not a supplement. Only nine Amazon ratings had been posted when read; no complaint pattern.
