Those are the themes that recur across the reviews. Moderate review confidence — Amazon shows 4.5 from 11,218 ratings and iHerb 4.7 from 455, both retailer-hosted and independent of the brand, and Walmart lists 4.5 from 2,298; there is no Trustpilot or Better Business Bureau profile for the brand.
Why it might work
DE111 and B. coagulans are spore-forming bacteria, which the brand says survive stomach acid; DE111 spores were found germinating in the small intestine within three hours in an ileostomy study. L. acidophilus and B. lactis are non-spore species that the pectin-containing capsule is meant to protect. PreforPro is a mix of four bacteriophages that infect E. coli; the brand and its research partners propose that removing some E. coli changes the gut environment in favor of the probiotic strains. The label cannot show how many viable organisms of each type reach the intestine, the dose of DE111 alone, or whether the capsule releases late.
What the research supports
No trial of this product was found. The two branded ingredients have been studied: PreforPro, a bacteriophage preparation, lowered fecal E. coli and was reported to add to the effect of a different probiotic (B. lactis BL04) in a 68-person, four-week trial, and DE111 reached the small intestine alive in 11 ileostomy volunteers. The one trial pairing DE111 with PreforPro for gut symptoms (120 people) has no published results, and a trial of another Bacillus subtilis strain at 5 billion CFU did not beat placebo for bloating overall.
What the label discloses
The label gives 4.4 billion CFU for four organisms together (DE111, Bacillus coagulans, Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium lactis) with no per-organism count, and only DE111 carries a strain designation. The prebiotic is 15 mg of PreforPro, a phage mix rather than a fiber. The bottle shows testing and GMP-facility seals without naming a laboratory, and the delayed-release capsule claim has no release data behind it.
Who this tends to suit
We match this product to people reporting bloating, gas and irregular bowel habits. It fits someone whose priority is a steady daily routine or day-to-day comfort. Whether it is the best fit for you depends on the rest of your answers — what you have already tried, what format you will take, and anything that has to be ruled out.
Where it may not fit
We hold no dietary claims on file for this product, so we do not assume any. We flag this product for anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, and the quiz removes it rather than recommending it in those cases. That is a caution about who should be deciding, not a claim about the product. A capsule only works if you will take it once a day, every day.
Side effects and what to be aware of
Most reviewers on Amazon and iHerb are positive; a minority report no effect, and some report nausea or discomfort at first. The bottle advises anyone who is pregnant or nursing, under 18, or with a known medical condition to ask a physician first, and Amazon’s safety text lists bloating, gas, cramps and constipation as possible effects. The facility statement covers milk, soy, wheat, egg, peanuts, tree nuts, fish and shellfish.
Common questions
Does Dr. Tobias Deep Immune Probiotics work?
No trial of this capsule was found. Its two branded ingredients have been studied: PreforPro, a bacteriophage mix, was reported to add to a different probiotic’s effect in a 68-person trial, and DE111 reached the small intestine alive in an ileostomy study. The trial that pairs DE111 with PreforPro for gut symptoms (120 people) has no published results. Amazon shows 4.5 from 11,218 ratings, with many reviewers describing less gas and bloating.
Is Dr. Tobias Deep Immune safe, and what are the side effects?
The bottle tells pregnant or nursing mothers, anyone under 18 and anyone with a known medical condition to consult a physician first. Amazon’s safety text says probiotics and prebiotics may temporarily cause bloating, gas, stomach pain, cramps, nausea, diarrhea or constipation, and some reviewers report nausea or initial discomfort. It is made in a facility that may also process milk, soy, wheat, egg, peanuts, tree nuts, fish and shellfish.
What is PreforPro, and is it a prebiotic?
PreforPro is a mixture of four bacteriophages (viruses that infect bacteria) aimed at E. coli, listed on the panel as LH01, LL5, T4D and LL12 at 15 mg a serving. It is called a prebiotic by its maker because it is meant to change the gut environment for probiotic bacteria, but it is not a fiber like inulin. This label contains no fiber-type prebiotic.
How much does Dr. Tobias Deep Immune cost?
A 60-capsule bottle is $25.99 on Amazon, the brand’s site and Walmart, which is $0.87 a day at two capsules a day, and $27.32 on iHerb. A subscription is $23.39 ($0.78 a day) on Amazon or the brand’s site, and the 120-count on the brand’s site is $46.99 ($0.78 a day).
Dr. Tobias Deep Immune vs Seed DS-01: how do they differ?
Deep Immune lists four organisms and 4.4 billion CFU in total, with a strain name only for DE111, plus 15 mg of bacteriophage mix. Seed DS-01 lists 24 strains with codes at a far higher count and has a trial of the finished product. Deep Immune’s label gives no per-organism count, so a comparison by dose is not possible from the label.
