What the accounts we could find say

There is not enough independent feedback here to call those themes reliable. Low review confidence — the 4.5 from 26 Amazon ratings is the only independent retailer figure with a usable count (iHerb has 5 reviews), three of the four Amazon reviews shown are free-product reviews, the brand’s 4.9 from 29 reviews is its own Okendo widget, and the Trustpilot page for bodyhealth.com could not be read.

Why it might work

Butyrate is a short-chain fatty acid that gut bacteria make from fiber and that cells lining the colon use as fuel. Tributyrin is three butyrate units attached to glycerol, which the brand describes as a postbiotic form that supports the gut lining and microbiome. The idea is to supply butyrate directly when the gut’s own production is thought to be low, with the glycerol form meant to carry butyrate further down the gut than a plain salt. The brand adds a small blend of essential amino acids and nucleotides. What the label does not let you check is how much of the 200 mg is tributyrin, how much butyrate reaches the colon, or what the amino acid and nucleotide blend contributes at 25 mg in total.

What the research supports

No trial of this product or of a 200 mg tributyrin capsule in gut symptoms was found. Trials of butyrate salts are the nearest evidence: 300 mg a day of microencapsulated sodium butyrate reduced pain during defecation in 66 adults with IBS, 1.5 g a day reduced pain, diarrhea and bloating in 52 adults with diabetes and IBS-type symptoms, and 500 mg a day of calcium butyrate gave treatment success in 73% against 3.8% in 51 children with IBS, while a pediatric inflammatory bowel disease trial of sodium butyrate found no difference from placebo. The only human tributyrin studies found were cancer dose studies at grams a day, so this label’s 200 mg of tributyrin complex (at most about 175 mg of butyrate-equivalent per capsule, by arithmetic) has no matching trial.

What the label discloses

The panel prints “Tributyrin Complex 200 mg” without saying how much of it is tributyrin, and puts 16 amino acid and nucleotide components into a 25 mg proprietary blend with no individual weights. The bottle states a cGMP facility; the brand’s quality page describes in-house testing and accredited laboratories where applicable without naming a laboratory or posting a certificate for this product. The 26 Amazon ratings are few and three of the four reviews shown are free-product reviews.

Who this tends to suit

We match this product to people reporting general abdominal discomfort and bloating. It fits someone whose priority is day-to-day comfort or a steady daily routine. Whether it is the best fit for you depends on the rest of your answers — what you have already tried, what format you will take, and anything that has to be ruled out.

Where it may not fit

The label supports gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan. A capsule only works if you will take it as often as the label directs.

Side effects and what to be aware of

Reviewers who were less convinced say it was too soon to tell or credit another BodyHealth product, and one free-product reviewer calls the cost a drawback. The panel image prints no warning other than the FDA statement; the back of the bottle was not read. The brand’s refund route is a 90-day guarantee on direct orders with one opened bottle per product accepted and no free return label; the Amazon listing is marked non-returnable except for damaged items.

Common questions

Does BodyHealth Tributyrin work?

No trial of this product was found. Trials of butyrate salts show mixed results: sodium butyrate improved some symptoms in IBS trials and calcium butyrate did in a children’s IBS trial, while a pediatric inflammatory bowel disease trial found no difference. On Amazon it holds 4.5 from 26 ratings, and reviewers describe less bloating or say it is too soon to tell.

What is in BodyHealth Tributyrin?

One capsule holds 200 mg of “Tributyrin Complex” and 25 mg of the PerfectAmino blend, which lists leucine, valine, isoleucine, lysine, phenylalanine, threonine, methionine, tryptophan, histidine, uridine, adenosine triphosphate, thymidine, adenine and three deoxynucleosides without individual weights. The panel does not say how much of the 200 mg is tributyrin. By arithmetic a pure 200 mg would be about 175 mg of butyric acid equivalent.

How much does BodyHealth Tributyrin cost per day?

A 60-capsule bottle is $42.75 on Amazon and $39.95 on the brand site. The label says 1 to 2 capsules a day, so it costs about $0.71 a day at 1 capsule and $1.43 at 2 on Amazon, or $0.67 and $1.33 on the brand site. The brand’s 15% subscription brings 1 capsule a day to about $0.57.

BodyHealth Tributyrin vs CoreBiome Tributyrin or BodyBio butyrate: what is the difference?

BodyHealth prints a 200 mg tributyrin complex per capsule with an amino acid and nucleotide blend, taken 1 to 2 a day. CoreBiome Tributyrin is also a tributyrin capsule, and BodyBio is a calcium and magnesium butyrate salt, a different form of butyrate. No trial compares them.

Does BodyHealth Tributyrin have side effects, and can I return it?

The panel image prints no warning other than the FDA statement, and the reviews read did not mention side effects. BodyHealth’s refund policy allows returns within 90 days of a direct purchase, with one opened bottle per product and no free return label, and it does not apply to Amazon orders, where the listing is marked non-returnable except for damaged items.
