Why it might work
In reflux, melatonin is thought to tighten the valve at the top of the stomach and slightly reduce acid output, a different route from the sleep effect it is sold for. In IBS the 2005 trial suggests a direct effect on gut pain sensitivity, since sleep did not change. A gummy delivers the dose more slowly than a capsule and with sugar, and the magnesium citrate, whose amount the listing does not state, is there for relaxation marketing rather than for the bowel.
What the research supports
The evidence belongs to 3 mg melatonin, not to this gummy. A 2023 double-blind trial added 3 mg of melatonin at night to omeprazole in 78 people with mild-to-moderate reflux and found lower symptom scores after four weeks than omeprazole with placebo. A 2005 double-blind crossover trial gave 3 mg of melatonin for two weeks to 40 IBS patients with sleep disturbance and found less abdominal pain, without a change in sleep measures. Neither trial used a gummy or added magnesium, and gummies can drift from their labeled melatonin content more than capsules do.
What the label discloses
The label lists 3 mg of melatonin and magnesium citrate per two-gummy serving, in a strawberry-flavored chew; the magnesium amount is not stated on the listing. Nature Made states USP verification for many of its products but the listing does not confirm it for this one. The full sweetener and coloring list is on the pack.
Who this tends to suit
We match this product to people reporting heartburn or reflux, general abdominal discomfort and abdominal pain. It fits someone whose priority is day-to-day comfort, a steady daily routine or pain and tenderness. Whether it is the best fit for you depends on the rest of your answers — what you have already tried, what format you will take, and anything that has to be ruled out.
Where it may not fit
The label supports gluten-free. We flag this product for anyone pregnant or breastfeeding or taking prescription medication, and the quiz removes it rather than recommending it in those cases. That is a caution about who should be deciding, not a claim about the product. A gummy only works if you will take it once a day, every day.
Side effects and what to be aware of
Reviews are mixed on both taste and effect, and the rating count is small. Each two-gummy serving carries sugar, which matters for anyone avoiding sweeteners, and the magnesium citrate amount is not stated on the listing, so it cannot be taken as a constipation dose. Melatonin can add to the effect of blood thinners and sedatives; the label warns against driving within eight hours and advises against use in pregnancy without advice.
