Why it might work
The formula stacks three ideas: two strains with human trials, a bacteriophage blend intended to clear space for them by targeting competing bacteria, and tributyrin as a delivered short-chain fatty acid for the gut lining. The nested capsule is meant to protect the organisms through the stomach. Each idea is plausible; only the two strains have trial evidence, and it belongs to them individually rather than to the combination.
What the research supports
Ingredient-level evidence for the two strains, none for the formula. L. rhamnosus GG has a meta-analysis of 12 trials in 1,499 people for antibiotic-associated diarrhea. B. lactis BB-12 was tested in the largest probiotic trial on bowel habit, 1,248 adults with low stool frequency over four weeks: the primary responder measure missed significance (p = 0.071), while a stricter responder definition favored BB-12 (odds ratio 1.55). Tributyrin has only pilot studies. No trial of Synbiotic+ itself was found.
What the label discloses
The label names Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG and Bifidobacterium animalis lactis BB-12 at 11 billion CFU combined, a four-phage prebiotic (PreforPro) and tributyrin (CoreBiome), in a nested capsule-in-capsule designed to delay release. Ritual states the product is vegan, third-party tested and traceable to supplier. Strain designations are given, which is the standard the site asks for.
Who this tends to suit
We match this product to people reporting bloating, irregular bowel habits and general abdominal discomfort. It fits someone whose priority is a steady daily routine or day-to-day comfort. Whether it is the best fit for you depends on the rest of your answers — what you have already tried, what format you will take, and anything that has to be ruled out.
Where it may not fit
The label supports vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and no added sweeteners. We flag this product for anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, and the quiz removes it rather than recommending it in those cases. That is a caution about who should be deciding, not a claim about the product. A capsule only works if you will take it once a day, every day.
Side effects and what to be aware of
At $2 a day you are paying for packaging and marketing as much as for the two strains, which are available for a quarter of the price elsewhere. Nausea and heartburn are reported by a noticeable minority, and some say constipation got worse. The bacteriophage prebiotic and tributyrin components have little human evidence. The label says consult a practitioner if pregnant or nursing.
