Does Rejuveen Provitalean work? A probiotic with no Akkermansia in it, trials of its parts, and no per-strain counts
Quick answer
Does Rejuveen Provitalean work? We found no trial of the capsule. Its B420 strain, at 10 billion CFU a day for six months in 225 overweight adults, did not change body fat in the full group; a subset that met compliance rules showed 4.5% less with B420 plus a fiber the capsule lacks. Its Moro orange extract has a 12-week trial at the same 400 mg. The label has no Akkermansia and prints no per-strain counts. Amazon shows 4.2 from 163 ratings.

Rejuveen Provitalean is a once-a-day capsule that combines three coded probiotic strains with Moro orange extract, hibiscus extract and chromium. It is sold for appetite and weight maintenance, and the brand frames it for use during or after GLP-1 injections. The ads lean on the word Akkermansia, but the Supplement Facts panel lists none. This page covers the label, the trials behind each part, the reviews, the price and the refund terms.
What Provitalean is, and what it is not
One vegetarian capsule is a serving, and a bottle holds 30. The Supplement Facts panel lists four lines:
| Line on the panel | Per capsule |
|---|---|
| Chromium (as chromium picolinate) | 200 mcg (571% of the Daily Value) |
| Moro red orange extract (Morosil) | 400 mg |
| Hibiscus calyx extract, standardized to 10% anthocyanidins | 110 mg |
| Proprietary probiotic blend, 28 billion CFU: Bifidobacterium animalis ssp. lactis B420, Lactobacillus lactis LI-23 and Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG | 110 mg |
Each of the three organisms carries a strain designation. The panel prints the blend as one figure, so the count for each strain is not shown; the 110 mg is the blend’s weight, not a cell count. The other ingredients are the acid-resistant capsule, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide. The brand states the product is non-GMO and gluten free, and its FAQ lists milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans and sesame as absent.
There is no Akkermansia in the capsule. The brand’s claim is indirect: it says the B420 strain “increases akkermansia muciniphila naturally,” and the appetite and GLP-1 claims build on that. This is a mechanism claim about what the strain does in the gut, not an ingredient. Products that do contain the organism are covered in the Akka guide and the Double Wood guide.
The brand sells Provitalean for appetite, cravings and weight rebound, with bloating and water retention as secondary claims. This site lists it for browsing and does not match it in the quiz, which starts from gut symptoms.
Is there a trial of Provitalean itself?
We found none. A PubMed search for the product name returned no results, and neither did ClinicalTrials.gov for the product or the company. The brand page’s chart of expected weight stability over time and its customer-results section cite no study. The third strain, LI-23, has no human or animal trial under that name in PubMed. The evidence below comes from individual parts of the formula, at the doses those trials used.
The B420 trial, and what it found
The brand’s claim of up to 4% less body fat traces to one six-month, double-blind trial of B. lactis B420. It enrolled 225 overweight and obese adults (BMI 28 to 34.9) in four groups: placebo, a polydextrose fiber at 12 g a day, B420 at 10 billion CFU a day, or B420 with the fiber. The authors included staff of the company that owns the strain (Stenman et al., EBioMedicine, 2016).
- Full group (intention to treat, 209 people): no significant difference in body fat mass between any group and placebo.
- Per-protocol subset (134 people with over 80% compliance and no antibiotics): B420 with fiber showed 4.5% less body fat mass than placebo (1.4 kg, P=0.02, 37 people). B420 alone showed 3.0% less, which was not statistically significant (P=0.28, 24 people).
- Post-hoc analysis: a factorial comparison of B420 against no B420 across the arms reported a 4.0% difference (P=0.002).
So the headline figure comes from a subset of the arm that also received fiber, and Provitalean contains no polydextrose. A follow-up analysis in the same 134-person subset found that Akkermansia was more abundant with B420 at the end of the intervention, as an exploratory outcome rather than a primary one (Hibberd et al., Beneficial Microbes, 2019). The brand’s Akkermansia claim rests on that finding. Because the label does not split the 28 billion CFU across three organisms, whether one capsule reaches the 10 billion CFU of B420 used in the trial cannot be checked.
The Morosil trial at the same dose
The Moro orange extract is the part with the closest match to a trial dose. In overweight healthy volunteers, 400 mg a day of Morosil for 12 weeks was compared with placebo. BMI fell significantly after four weeks, and body weight, BMI, waist and hip circumference differed from placebo at the end (p<0.05) (Cardile et al., Natural Product Research, 2015). The capsule’s 400 mg matches that dose. The abstract does not give the sample size or the size of the effects, and we did not check the funding.
Hibiscus and chromium
For hibiscus, the nearest trial used a different product. It gave 56 overweight and obese adults 500 mg a day of a combined hibiscus and lemon verbena polyphenol extract for two months. Waist circumference in the overweight group fell 6.79 cm against 1.85 cm on placebo, and changes were more modest in the obese group (Herranz-López et al., Scientific Reports, 2019). That is a two-herb extract at 500 mg; the capsule has 110 mg of hibiscus alone. The brand uses its hibiscus for water retention, which is a brand claim.
For chromium, the panel prints 200 mcg, which is 571% of the Daily Value. The brand’s FAQ describes chromium as clinically shown to curb carbohydrate cravings and cites no study for it. A 2024 meta-analysis of 14 randomized trials in people with type 2 diabetes found no significant effect of chromium on body weight (a difference of 0.26 kg lower, 95% CI from 0.69 kg lower to 0.16 kg higher), BMI or waist, with fat-mass reductions in subgroups aged 55 or over and in trials using chromium picolinate (Vajdi et al., Journal of Trace Elements in Medicine and Biology, 2024). Those trials were in people with diabetes, a different group from the one the product targets.
The GLP-1 and post-injection framing
The Amazon title reads “Anti Weight Rebound Post GLP Therapy | Boost GLP1 Naturally,” and the brand page answers a question on taking it with or after Ozempic. The brand also says that doctors overlook Akkermansia because it cannot be patented, and describes a “gut bacterial burnout” state; neither claim cites a source on the page. These are the brand’s claims.
The human trial that tested the organism itself was small: 40 overweight or obese, insulin-resistant adults were enrolled and 32 finished, taking 10 billion A. muciniphila bacteria a day for three months. The pasteurized form improved insulin sensitivity by 28.62% (P=0.002) and lowered total cholesterol by 8.68% (P=0.02); the weight difference against placebo, 2.27 kg, was not statistically significant (P=0.091) (Depommier et al., Nature Medicine, 2019). Provitalean contains none of that organism. We found no trial of this formula, or of any blend of chromium, hibiscus and Moro orange, in people taking or stopping GLP-1 drugs, and nothing that tests the “food noise” claim.
The Pendulum, Akka and Double Wood capsules on this site contain the organism itself; Provitalean does not. The Pendulum page, the Akka page and the Double Wood page show those labels.
How to take it
The brand’s directions are one capsule a day before breakfast, or as advised by a health practitioner. The capsule is an acid-resistant vegetarian type. The B420 trial ran six months and the Morosil trial 12 weeks. What a CFU figure does and does not predict is covered in the CFU guide.
Side effects and who should check first
The brand’s FAQ says some people notice mild digestive adjustments, such as temporary gas, when they start. It advises checking with a doctor before use, especially in pregnancy or breastfeeding, with any health condition, or while taking medication, and says to stop and seek medical attention if an adverse effect occurs. The panel image prints no warning text, and the pack’s own warning panel was not seen. Amazon’s listing adds that some states prohibit the sale of weight-loss products to people under 18. One Amazon reviewer reports an irritated mood, and a few reviewers report capsules that are hard to swallow. Because the product is aimed at people on prescription injections, a prescriber is the right person to ask about taking it alongside them. The usual effects of probiotics are in the probiotic side effects guide.
We found no third-party testing statement, certificate or NSF or USP mark on the brand page or the Amazon listing, which says only that the product is made in the USA.
What the reviews say
Amazon shows 4.2 out of 5 from 163 ratings: 66% five-star, 13% four, 8% three, 3% two and 10% one. Amazon’s summary of review text calls effectiveness mixed, with 11 positive and 7 negative among 18 mentions, and appetite control with 4 positive and 2 negative among 6 mentions.
The brand’s own page runs a Judge.me review app showing 4.72 out of 5 from 80 reviews: 62 five-star, 15 four, 2 three, 1 two and none at one star. This is a feed the brand hosts. Of the newest 78 reviews we read, 41 were flagged as verified buyers, and 31 mention cravings, appetite or “food noise,” 19 mention bloating, 13 name a GLP-1 drug and 11 mention regularity.
Reviewers praise three things: fewer cravings and a quieter appetite, steadier weight alongside a GLP-1 medication, and less bloating with more regular digestion. The complaints are no noticeable effect or too early to tell, capsule size, and an order mix-up from one reviewer who also found the refund process harder than expected.
Price, the subscription and the refund terms
| Where | Price | Per day |
|---|---|---|
| Brand site, 1 bottle (30 capsules), one time | $59.00 | $1.97 |
| Brand site, 1 bottle, Subscribe & Save (10% off) | $53.10 | $1.77 |
| Brand site, 2 bottles, one time | $108.00 | $1.80 |
| Brand site, 3 bottles, one time | $147.00 | $1.63 |
| Amazon, 30 capsules | $59.00 | $1.97 |
| Amazon, Subscribe & Save | $53.10 | $1.77 |
The brand’s FAQ says all orders are one-time purchases unless you choose to subscribe. The page’s option tiles show per-bottle prices that match the subscription prices, and a recurring-purchase consent line sits above the buy button, so the cart total and the selected option are worth checking before paying. Subscription plans of one, two and three months carry discounts of 10%, 7.13% and 3.67%, and the plan names say cancel anytime.
The refund terms: the brand offers a 90-day money-back guarantee on product quality, which it says applies to the first non-subscription order of each unique product or bundle bought from its site or its official Amazon store. Subscriptions are not eligible for the guarantee. The policy also says returns are not accepted for supplements unless the brand requests them, and that in some cases customers may be asked to destroy the product. It states that ending a subscription does not cancel an order that has already been charged, and that orders are finalized for delivery within 5 hours of placement. Amazon lists the item as non-returnable for food safety reasons.
Who Provitalean is for
- Someone whose goal is appetite and weight maintenance rather than a gut symptom, which is what the product is sold for, and who understands that no trial tested this formula.
- Someone looking for the specific parts it contains: B420 at an unprinted amount, Morosil at its 400 mg trial dose, a low dose of hibiscus and 200 mcg of chromium.
- Someone who has checked with a doctor or prescriber, particularly if taking medication or a GLP-1 drug.
This site lists Provitalean for browsing and does not match it in the quiz, because the quiz is built around gut symptoms and the product is sold for appetite and weight. For a probiotic chosen from a symptom, the which probiotic guide is the starting point. For capsules that contain Akkermansia itself, see Pendulum, Akka and Double Wood.

Common questions
Does Rejuveen Provitalean work?
No trial of Provitalean was found. Its strain B420 did not change body fat in the full group of a 225-adult, six-month trial, and its Moro orange extract has a 12-week trial at the same 400 mg dose with lower BMI and waist than placebo. On Amazon it holds 4.2 from 163 ratings, and Amazon’s summary calls effectiveness mixed.
What is in Provitalean, and is there Akkermansia in it?
One capsule has 200 mcg of chromium, 400 mg of Moro red orange extract, 110 mg of hibiscus calyx extract and a 28 billion CFU blend of Bifidobacterium lactis B420, Lactobacillus lactis LI-23 and Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG. There is no Akkermansia on the label. The brand says B420 raises it.
What does 571% of the Daily Value for chromium mean?
The panel prints 200 mcg of chromium as chromium picolinate, which it lists as 571% of the Daily Value. The brand says chromium is clinically shown to curb carbohydrate cravings and cites no study. A meta-analysis of 14 trials in type 2 diabetes found no significant effect on body weight.
Can you take Provitalean with Ozempic or other GLP-1 drugs?
The brand markets it for use during or after GLP-1 injections, and several reviewers say they take it that way. No trial of the product in people taking these drugs was found, and the brand advises checking with a doctor if you take medication.
How much does Provitalean cost per day?
One 30-capsule bottle is $59.00 on the brand site and on Amazon, about $1.97 a day. Subscribing is 10% off ($53.10, about $1.77 a day), and the three-bottle pack is $147.00 on the brand site, about $1.63 a day.
Can I get a refund on Provitalean?
The brand offers a 90-day money-back guarantee on the first non-subscription order of each product and none on subscriptions. Its policy also says supplement returns are not accepted unless the brand requests them. Amazon lists the item as non-returnable.
What are the side effects of Provitalean?
The brand says some people notice temporary gas when they start, and advises checking with a doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a health condition or take medication. Reviewers mention capsules that are hard to swallow and, in one case, an irritated mood.
How does Provitalean compare with Pendulum Akkermansia?
Pendulum contains Akkermansia muciniphila itself, while Provitalean contains none and relies on the brand’s claim that B420 raises it. The ingredients, trial bases and purposes differ. The Pendulum page has its label.
