What customers consistently report

Those are the themes that recur across the reviews. Amazon ratings run cooler than most of this catalog — 4.0 out of 5 from about 1,012 ratings, with roughly 15% one-star. Target carries a notably higher 4.81 from 13,312 ratings for the same product.

Why it might work

DS-01 pairs 24 named live strains with 400 mg of a polyphenol prebiotic, so it is designed as a synbiotic: the organisms are supplied together with material that may influence the environment in which gut microbes function. Its capsule-in-capsule delivery is meant to protect that payload during transit through the stomach, and the label is unusually specific about the combined 53.6-billion AFU count, named strains, and third-party testing. The finished formula also has a trial of its own, which is more informative than borrowing evidence from an ingredient class. Even so, a combined count does not reveal a dose for each individual strain, and the trial was company-funded, not independently replicated, with not all enrolled people completing six weeks. Credible biology does not prove an outcome for this blend, whose company-funded trial awaits independent replication.

What the research supports

One of the few products here with a trial on the finished formula itself, not just the ingredient class. A company-funded randomized trial in 350 adults with chronic bloating and indigestion (Nutrients, 2026; NCT06009614) found six weeks of DS-01 significantly improved bloating, gas and abdominal-discomfort scores versus placebo. The caveats are real: it was funded by the company, has not been independently replicated, and only 219 of the 350 enrolled completed all six weeks.

What the label discloses

24 strains are named with a combined 53.6 billion AFU, plus a polyphenol prebiotic stated at 400 mg. The capsule-in-capsule delivery technology and third-party testing are both disclosed, and the product is stated to be free of the nine major allergens.

Who this tends to suit

We match this product to people reporting bloating, gas and general abdominal discomfort. It fits someone whose priority is day-to-day comfort or a steady daily routine. Whether it is the best fit for you depends on the rest of your answers — what you have already tried, what format you will take, and anything that has to be ruled out.

Where it may not fit

The label supports vegan and minimal ingredient list. We flag this product for anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, and the quiz removes it rather than recommending it in those cases. That is a caution about who should be deciding, not a claim about the product. A capsule only works if you will take it once a day, every day.

Side effects and what to be aware of

It is one of the more expensive products in this catalog per day at the retail price shown (about $2.00), sold mainly by subscription through the brand's own site (about $1.67 a day rather than $2.00 there), and roughly 15% of Amazon ratings are one-star.
